| USA 1967 (31 Jan) Space Cover "ATCOS 1 (OV 3-5)/IMAGE OF SATELLITE" and "ATCOS 1 (OV 3-5)/LIFTED INTO ELIPTICAL ORBIT BY SCOUT BOOSTER/ TO PERFORM UPPER AIR COMPOSITION AND DENSITY/ EXPERIMENTS" unaddressed and affixed with 4c USA Flag stamp cancelled "VANDENBERG AFB, CA 93837/ JAN 31/AM/67". Orbital Vehicles OV 3-5 and OV 3-6 were called ATCOS (Atmospheric Composition Satellite. OV 3-5 (ATCOS 1) with a mass of 94 kgs, had the objective to measure the components, density and temperature of the atmosphere but, due to a launch failure the satellite did not orbit. However the mission was successfully accomplished by the twin satellite OV 3-6 (ATCOS 2)
